Hi,

There are a few ways of doing it, but before giving you a long description of how to do it I thought I'd tell you some problems with it:

The only encoder codec available at the moment only supports the old MDLP 2 type of ATRAC3 which is fairly good at the highest bitrate (132k) but is not all that great when converting from mp3.
Another side effect is that although it's possible to encode the files, if you wished to put them on a player then the application for the player will often still ask to convert the files.

Let me know if you still want the information on how to encode them.

.AT3 is ATRAC3

Sony have never been very keen on the idea of people converting files to them unless its locked to their products.

Silly as it sounds the OpenMG files are ATRAC3/AT3 but OpenMG makes like a container file which only plays back on OpenMG compatible players.
The method I use does create the correct .at3 file but because it's not in OpenMG's container format players may refuse to play it or if files are placed on players/devices by OpenMG jukebox it will often ask to convert them.

it's a very annoying situation.

RealPlayer does a similar thing which people have thought about before, in their high end player you can produce AAC Plus/ATRAC3 Plus files but again they're in like a carrier format designed for just RealPlayer.
