| Right click on the file, select "Open With" then slide accross to "Choose Program", you will then see a list of programs, scroll down and select windows media player, then check the box that says "Always use this program to open these files". | |

| Hiya thanks for replying it does not give the choice to open with. Just a straight open that is when windows kicks in and says file not recognised. | |

| This may help, its a registry file to tell windows what type of file .mp4 files are, you only need to run it once, it will ask if you wish to modify the registry.
Attachments ---------------- forced context mp4.reg (0KB - 273 downloads)

| MP4 is a fairly new format so a lot of people are churning out some fairly messed up files, some people are even renaming files from .avi to .mp4 just to keep up with the jones's.
Don't send the file to the great recycle bin in the sky yet, you may have a media type problem on your system, but you'll soon know that if other video's wont play.
PS. Did you know there is an online test here http://www.cole2k.net/?display=VideoTest it takes a while to load but you can check a few AVI types with it. | |
