I need the ATRAC encoder to use with dbpoweramp. As far as I know, you can place the .dll file in the directory and use it. But I can't find the files that the audio codec package made? Where does it install to and what is the filename? Thanks a lot. I have a PSP and want the atrac file isntead of .mp3, so if there is another way to convert mp3 to atrac I would appreciate that as well. THanks.

Hi, only a select few codecs use encoder dll's, unfortunately ATRAC3 isn't one of them, it is an ACM codec which works from the system directory and has to be entered into the registry.

The ATRAC3 codec in my packages is only the old MDLP2 type, not the MDLP4 or ATRAC Plus type featured in most applications for Sony devices, MDLP2 is not as good as MDLP4 and bit rates need to be higher to keep audio quality high.

If you convert MP3's to any format you'll lose quality.

Sonic Stage is Sony's default application for converting to ATRAC3.

If you didn't get Sonic Stage with your PSP then I'm doubtful that it would work, Sony originally locked it to use with MD recorders as a software to hardware interfacing application.

It would be a good idea to check with Sony.
