I have just downloaded and installed Cole2k Codec Pack V7.9.4 Advanced and have no idea how to configure it so that my programs can use those codecs. In fact I had no idea how to determine whether any extant codecs might conflict with them.

Please help,

Hi,
If you are just using it to play movies you don't have to configure anything. If you're trying to play files that are not immediately recognised by your player there is a pdf guide in your start menu under Cole2k Media - Codec Pack/Helpful Resources/How to play unusual files.
If you are trying to encode files in an ripping/editing program that should have it's own help file for compression settings.
