Hi,

Everything was working fine for me 'till about a week ago... I watch a lot of Fansubs of Japanese Anime. Now I'm having all sorts of playback problems. I haven't changed anything on my system recently expect cleaning up a few old programs I wasn't using.

Here's a few specs...

Player: The Core Media Player 4
Combined-Community-Codec-Pack-2008-09-21
Nero 7 Premium.

I just now installed cole2k.media.-.codec.pack.v7.6.0. advanced hoping it would fix my problems but it didn't... I can't get MKV or even AVI files now to play on the core media player. Some of them will play on WMP 11 SOMETIMES. I can't even encode in Nero Vision 4 for when I'm trying to burn them into DVDs...

Please Help. I have some great series that probably will never make it to the North American market that I'd like to watch & put on DVD.

Thank you,

Jaydee

Hi, you cannot install 2 codec packs together because they will conflict.
You can resolve the issue by doing the following:
Uninstall both packs, restart your PC, then install the Cole2k Media pack on it's own.

I did that... now some of it kinda work & some don't. The Core Media Player doesn't really work anymore (as in can't detect the right codecs) but WMP does... & I have some movies that don't encode when I try to burn them because the codec can read them no problem but Nero just hangs & the thumbnail's blank... So 1 have one problem fixed but still have this problem encoding things....

The Core Media Player hasn't been updated for around 3 years if I remember correctly, so will naturally have issues with formats like x264, DivX 7 and file types like MKV and MP4.
Nero has a lot of problems with various formats, quite often it's caused by poorly encoded movies and/or unusual/unstable encoder codec's.

No program is going to work with 100% of files, but you may wish to try AVS DVD Authoring from http://www.avsmedia.com/
