Subject: AVR file from Sysmaster Tornado M10 IPTV box

i have IPTV box (http://www.sysmaster.com/products/set_top_box.php) that lets me record individual files to USB thumb drive, the file extension for the file is .avr and according to the website info this is a mp4 file format. I tried playing this file under Windows with the cole2k package installed and it failed. I also tried playing the file under Ubuntu linux and failed again.

I uploaded a file at this location (Downloaded, link now removed) its about 3.7mb and i was wondering if one of you can tell me how to play this file on any platform.

Thanks in advance

I've tried a few players and a number of different codecs but the file wouldn't play for me.
See if you can set the system to save in a different format, or contact the manufacturer.

Cole,

I thank you so much for a quick reply. I checked the device to see if I can change the format but i do not have that option when i log in as user and I do not have the password for the admin user. I believe the device uses some sort of embeded linux distro. The device is able to play most of the AVI and MPG formats but when it saves it records it only records as AVR.

I have seen another thread on a different forum about an Echostar PVR5020 which is a satellite receiver with recording capabilities. I followed these instructions but i messed up something along the way and did not work. the link is here

Thanks again
