Issue 1:

After installing the Cole2k codec pack and doing a check in Gspot I get the following :

- - ** Problem ** ** Missing file: ac3filter.acm
- - Type ACM
- - Function Decoder
DSH 4CC Base
REG Driver File ac3filter.acm

- - ** Problem ** ** Missing file: atrac3.acm
- - Type ACM
- - Function Decoder
DSH 4CC Base
REG Driver File atrac3.acm

Ive not taken any action to remedy this so far as I thought Id come and ask for some advice first.

Issue 2:

Upon opening a h264 avi in VirtualDub I get the following error :

"Couldnt locate decompressor for format H264

VD requires a VFW compatible codec to decompress video."

The problem is that I have several h264 decompressing codecs installed and verified as ok in Gspot.

Again, any advice would be great.

The GSpot errors are problems with GSpot itself, the acm codecs are present, if you search for the file names on your computer you will usually find them installed in "C:\Windows\system32" in Windows XP, other Windows versions may use a different system folder.

VirtualDub uses VFW codecs for editing, click "ffdshow VFW" in the start menu folder, from the dialogue that appears click the "Decoder" tab at the top, then in the left list that shows select "Codecs", on the right side where you see "H.264/AVC" in the list click disabled at the right and select "libavcodec" in the drop down that appears.
