Just a quick update.

I've updated the package a little more.
The uninstaller is not as clean as I would have liked, but shouldn't cause any problems.

The latest build can be downloaded here http://cole2k.net/files/Cole2k.Media.-.Codec.Pack.V6.0.9.-Standard-...

ok, i am downloading it...

By the way i have one OT question...

I have been comparing updated Windows 98 with Windows XP. I was able to use mostly all software. Only visible difference was in Video Renderer.

TV tuner application and MPC by gabest in XP were offering Default Video Renderer, Video Mixing Renderer 7 and Video Mixing Renderer 9. in Windows 98 was offered Default Video Renderer and Video Mixing Renderer 9.

What is Default video renderer for Windows 98 and XP? If VMR 7 is same as Default why is offered twice - if offered twice how it can affect compatibility of applications...

Uninstallation process:
After uninstallation Regsrv32 stays frozen in the background. If you try to turn off or reboot system it is necessary to disable it in Task Manager. Rest seems to be flawless.

Minor Bug:
Media player Classic crashed when using VobSub and "Old renderer" for output, after window was closed.

MDVDP is causing trouble. Reason is unknown but it is not connected with C2ks.

Ad: Capturing

so i am now able to use many standalone codecs for capturing. Standalone huffyuff is best way to capture in 786x568. Iam really amazed that i can capture realtime video in this quality, also best way for capturing is still older 0.4xx Xvid build, with level 2 quantizer. video is quite compressed but still in high quality for postprocessing.

Now am going to test FDDshow settings for realtime capture. I have to solve one error with segmented videos - when new file is created there is framedrop (for half a second)... Segmented videos althought best cannot be used here

Re: VMR
VMR 7 is supposed to be default for Windows XP and higher.
VMR 9 is optional to all OS's supporting DirectX and is installed by DirectX 9 or higher.
The default for Windows 98 would be to disable VMR normally.
It's likely to be different on your modified version of Windows 98 though.

Re: Uninstall & Shutdown hang
There is a problem when unregistering Haali's splitter but I should be able to get around it.

Re: VobSub
I've found a modified version of VobSub 2.37 by Aegisub which has a few added fixes, I hope to add it to the pack later today.

Ad VMR
it seemes that VMR 7 is also default in Windows 98 (if dx7 and higher present, else are default lower versions) and is also listed just as "default" renderer. In XP can VMR 7 be adressed as "Default" or directly as "Video Mixing Renderer 7". Its a mess which can lead to serious incompatibility with previous or future usage of these renderers... Also as i know except haali is there no alternative renderer for Windows based OS.

Ad Capturing:
LIbavcodec from standard package is quite CPU consuming if encoding - better way here is to use older codec builds... At my system config is really a miracle that i can capture any video.

Ad Hanging:
i would be very grateful if there should be any upgrade. i shall try that newer vobsub as stand alone, and i send you report here.

Just an update,
I havent got any further with getting rid of the hanging issue when uninstalling, I've been having problems safely removing Haali without using the normal unregister command.
I am going to leave it as it is because it's safer.

I've uploaded an updated test pack with the modified version of VSFilter.
I've continued to use the modified personally and havent seen a single error myself.
Let me know if you have any problems with it.

I'm also in the process of testing a number of recent generic ffdshow builds and if they are any better may add them to the pack.

VSFilter by aegis is causing serious errors during install.

"runtime error! with regsrvr32.exe - abnormal program termination"

No possibility to run it. when subtitled file is opened player crashes (any player)

i tried to install VCRredist 2005 but without any sucess. This filter is not compatible. Then when i tried to open Haali config dialog nothing happened.

Thanks for testing it, I'll change it back to the normal 2.37 version.
