hi there cole! i tried playing an avi file that is xvid, but i got an error from Windows media player saying "Specified module could not be found". I checked it with Gspot and its ok, in the Video tab it recognized it as xvid and the stat line says codec(s) are installed. what could be the problem?

The problem is usually caused when you've installed my codec pack over a previous version or over another one, or uninstalled a previous one without restarting and installed another.

Uninstall the codec pack, restart your PC (if you don't restart your PC you will cause the same problem again), then re-install the codec pack.

i did what u said but i still had the same error. i'm using a pc in a internet cafe, so i dont really know if there was a previous installation of codec that had been "properly" uninstalled. is there anyway i can find that out without reformatting this pc? thats the only reason i can think of right now thats causing for your codec not to function with regards to my problem.

PC's in internet cafe's are usually set so that they cannot have applications installed and often have restrictions on the registry aswell.
