| Firstly, thanks for the codec package, this is one of the best I've installed.
Unfortunately the first time I installed it some of my videos wouldn't play in Windows Media Player 10 (they worked in other players like Media Player Classic) and I wasn't sure what the problem was. I traced it to VSFilter 2.37--when that DLL was registered my subtitled movies would not play in WMP 10, when I unregistered it they played (albeit without subtitles, of course).
My solution was to uninstall the Cole2K codec pack and install VSFilter 2.33, then reinstall the codec pack, unchecking VSFilter during the install. So far so good.
I didn't perform a scientific study of which versions worked and which didn't--I read on a site somewhere that 2.33 might work and so it did, and I left it at that. If anyone is aware of a version that is newer and works where 2.37 doesn't I'd love to hear it.
Have others had this problem with VSFilter 2.37 and WMP 10? Any idea what the root cause is? | |

| Hi Hashashin, a few users have had the same problem, I'm unsure of what is causing it and during my tests it worked for me without any problem.
Version 2.33 of VSFilter is going to be put back in both packages and the next version released within a few days.
For anyone else reading this and having problems you can fix it by placing the linked file (VSFilter.dll) in "C:\WINNT\system32\" (For Windows 2000) or in "C:\WINDOWS\system32" (For Windows XP).
If you recieve a file in use error simply restart your PC and try again, you will also see a prompt asking if you wish to replace the old file.
There is no need to uninstall the codec pack or manually register the file again. | |
