I am trying to view a movie that is an x264 and I was able to get Windows Media Player to recognize the file as playable but when I try to play it all I get is sound and no video. Any suggestions as to how to fix this would be appreciated. I am using Windows XP.

Sorry for the double posting.

Hi,
ffdshow is the codec used for decoding x264, it is featured in both of my codec packs, but you may have unselected it during installation.

It appears I have the ffdshow codec. Is there something else I need to do before it works? Thank you for the help.

No, normally it should work but sometimes it may not be installed correctly if a previous codec pack wasnt uninstalled correctly and the system restarted.

You may wish to give this a try just to see if its a settings problem though:

Click "Start" and go to "Programs/Cole2k Media Codec Pack" and select "ffdshow Video Configuration", a window will appear with a list of formats along with a choice of what decoder can be used, in the format column you should see "h.264" and next to it in the decoder column it should say "libavcodec", if it doesnt just select it from the drop down list.

If that didnt help then its worth uninstalling the pack, restart your computer (very important to restart as files are unlocked and deleted on restart), then proceed to install the pack again or install one of the updated packs.
