Simply trying to watch a video in MKV format. Or convert it to a common format.
I thought that this "Cole2 Media Codec" package could handle this relatively simple task.
There was, apparently, an enormous amount of work done to create this software, yet there's no user manual whatsoever. Is the entire world filled of people with Doctorates in Electronics? NO!!!! Not me. I hate electronics, but I like movies. Help!

Hi, sorry to hear you're having trouble with it.
I haven't written a manual for the package as it constantly changes, so any manual would have to change constantly too.
I'm sure at some point I will be able to put something simple together though.

To resolve your issue, do the following:
Right click on a .mkv file and select "Open With", move accross to "Choose Program" and then from the list that appears select "Windows Media Player", at the bottom of the list there is also a check box to select that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file".
Windows Media Player will also show a message asking if you want it to play the unknown format, click "Yes" and check the box that asks if you don't want the message to display again.
