| Okay, I have something I expect as a noobish question: Can I use the media codec to convert ATRAC3 into MP3 or MWA files? I have the Sony MP3 player, and I'm at a loss when it comes to converting the dreaded ATRAC-files to other file types.
Hope anyone can help. | |

| Hi, The codec packs don't feature any converters or encoding applications, they simply contain the required bits to make players and encoders on the PC understand the files (a bit like a traslator really).
Read on anyway though:
Not many players will even play newer type ATRAC3 files (MDLP4, ATRAC Plus) and as far as I know there are no programs that will convert them.
Another concern is also DRM (digital rights management), which is sometimes used to protect the files.
Currently the only ATRAC3 types that can be easily converted are the original ATRAC3 type and MDLP2.
A route you could try is to use WinAmp with the Liquid audio plugin and try to convert with WinAmp, but I very much doubt it will work or give a high success rate if it does. | |
