| Some versions of Nero premium do leave a huge trail and cripple video playback.
In this case I think you may have one of the troubled versions.
You could re-install Nero and give up the idea of using a codec pack for a while, but I get the impression thats not really what you want. It may just give a little more use until you do re-install though.
If you format and re-install Windows these are the components of Nero premium that I unselect on my systems:
Nero SmartStart
Nero Home
Nero Vision
Nero ShowTime
Nero MediaHome

| So i got rid of nero entirely, reinstalled media player, reinstalled direct x, reinstalled the codecs and now avi's i shot with my webcam work and quicktime streaming video works, but the rest dont. any thoughts? | |

| I have no more suggestions really, it sounds fairly crippled.
Perhaps you would be better off installing Windows again.
If you're concerned about Nero Premium causing problems again I suggest using version 7.0.1.4 or higher (thats the version I use and it can be uninstalled safely if you have problems). | |

| Just as a last thing to try, you may wish to update your graphics card driver, or if it's a fairly recent version try a previous version. | |
