Subject: Media Player doesn't recognize MP4

I have just installed your latest codec pack (advanced version.) I was expecting Media Player 11 to recognize my MP4 files after the installation, however it doesn't. Rebooting did not help. When I open any of the files using Media Player (by manually associating using 'Open with . . .') , it plays the audio portion only. Not sure what I am doing wrong here; thanks in advance for the help.

Some information:
Dell XPS
Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
Media Player 11

MP4 Codecs show up in the list when viewed from 'About Media Player'

Hi,

Did you download the latest version from the main site or the forum?

I believe it was downloaded from a cole2k mirror site (I found you indirectly from another site.) I am sorry, I don't recall the exact site name, but I believe it had cole2k in the name.

The filename is:
Cole2k.Media.-.Codec.Pack.V6.0.8.-Advanced-.Setup.exe

That's ok, the mirrors for most other sites are mine anyway.

I don't have the package set to alter the file association of the files it supports because so many people use different players.
eg. setting mp4 files to play in WMP would irritate Zoom Player users.
I hope that answers that for you.

There are test builds of my advanced pack (version 6.0.9) here http://forums.cole2k.net/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=325&posts=4 with greater mp4 support.
I would suggest that you uninstall the current pack, restart and install one of the test builds.
The test builds are very stable and will only go through a few more changes before they're released in full.
